Google chrome features and tips that will help you to surf better
Google chrome is one of the most used and popular browser. Even you may have been using it since long time, you may have never care or noticed about some features in Google chrome. So, today i am going to share you 10 features(Can be taken as tips and tricks also). And i am sure that these features will help you to make your Google chrome experience better.
Re – open previous session
When you open many tabs and accidently close the Google chrome then you can restore the session by opening the browser again. For example i had opened 8 tabs in my last session and i closed the chrome then now i can easily restore my previous session by clicking Recently closed and 8 tabs.
Chrome as calculator
You can do calculation in chrome. For example type 8*9+3 then you will get 75. See the image below.
Pin tab
You may want to open many tabs in Google chrome. So you can click on pin tab to show favicon of the website opened in tab to increase the space for other tab. Just in the favicon icon space right click on it and then select pin tab. Also the tab will remain there permanently i.e when you will open chrome from next time these tabs will load automatically. For example: If you pin the Facebook tab then when you open chrome from next time Facebook will automatically load.
Show only Favicon icon in Bookmark toolbar
You can only show favicon of website in bookmark toolbar. For this edit bookmark and delete the site name. You can do this via Bookmark manager or from Bookmark toolbar itself.
Past and go/search
If you select some words to search or url to visit outside or inside the chrome and want to search or visit in the chrome then you can right click on url bar and click on paste and go for url and select paste and search for searching selected word.
Drag and drop the downloaded files
When you download the files then you will see as in the image below. Now you can easily drag and drop this download file to the location you want. It can be desktop or any other folders.
Increase/Decrease text area
You can increase or decrease the size of text area such as comment box of website in chrome.
about:memory (chrome://memory/)
You can access to About:memory by typing about:memory or chrome://memory in address bar. This page gives about how are the process consuming the memory in your opened browser.
Task Manager
Chrome have it’s own built-in task manager. When one tab is not responding while surfing then you can easily end that tab from Task Manager. For open Task Manager visit from Tools>>Task Manager or press Shift + Esc
chrome:// (Command)
You can easily access to chrome pages such as history, version ans setting page with these commands in address bar:
chrome://version/ – Display the info and version of your chrome browser.
chrome://memory/ – Displays the memory used by tabs and apps in chrome.
chrome://bookmarks/ – Opens Bookmark Manager
chrome://cache/ – Shows the cache stored in chrome
chrome://dns/ – Displays stored dns of websites
chrome://plugins/ – Shows the installed plugins in chrome
chrome://settings – Opens setting page
There are many others command as well which are not listed above. You can check theme by typing chrome://chrome-urls/ in address bar.
